The Compassionate Friends of Victoria had its 19th annual balloon release in the Rose Garden at Riverside Park on Saturday.

The organization provides support for parents and grandparents who have experienced the death of a child.

Linda Goss, the chapter leader, and more than 40 others attended the ceremony. They composed messages to their children on butterfly- and angel-shaped notes and attached them to balloons.

After prayers, music and poetry recitals, they released the balloons together and said the names of each of their children aloud.
