West boys win team title at Bay City meet

BAY CITY - The Victoria West boys claimed four of the top six places to win the team championship at the Bay City cross country meet Saturday at La Tulle Park.

West's Todd Mickey finished first over the 5-kilometer course in a time of 17 minutes, 21 seconds. Blake Westbrook was fourth in 18:42, Lupe Vega was fifth in 18:52, and Graham Lemmons was sixth in 18:59.

Nathan Alkek finished 26th for the Warriors in a time of 20:31, John Estrada was 30th in 20:58, and Ryan Burrows was 32nd in 21:13.

Chelsea Lacy paced the West girls with a time of 14:01 over the 2-mile course. Marisol Andrade was fifth in 14:03, and Meagan Hill was seventh in 14:28.

Lady Flyers finish third

SHINER - The St. Joseph girls finished third in the Class 3A/4A division at the Shiner Comanche cross country meet Saturday.

Alex Marlow led the Lady Flyers over the 2-mile course with a time of 16:27. Sydney Barker and Kathryn Janecek were 22nd and 23rd, respectively, in a time of 17:21.

St. Joseph's Gabby Kirkpatrick was 26th in a time of 17:59, and Abigail Kovar was 27th in 18:14. Amy Alcasabas was 30th, and Katherine Dent placed 31st.

St. Joseph's Jourdan Hydol-Smith had a top-20 finish in the boys' Class 3A/4A divisions with a time of 20:51 over the 5-kilometer course.
