Senior Helpers recognizes the following caregivers for achieving levels of service with the company: Denise Madden, silver; Louise Riggs, gold; Rebecca Gaona, bronze; and Karen Waul, bronze. Caregiver levels are based on the amount of service hours with the company as well as continuous training completed.
Senior Helpers also recognizes the October Caregiver of the Month, Benita Castillo. She has worked for Senior Helpers-Victoria since February 2012.
Keith Brown, chief executive of Bay City school district, was named Superintendent of the Year by the Texas Association of School Boards in Dallas on Sept. 28. Now in his sixth year as superintendent of Bay City ISD, Brown serves approximately 3,700 students and has more than 20 years of administrative experience.
Peggy Fonseca, Goliad County emergency management coordinator, spoke at the 65th annual County Treasurer's Conference in Beaumont on Sept. 17. She presented Continuity of Operations During Emergencies and National Incident Management System requirements to 145 of the state's 245 county treasurers from around the state.
Mark Ward Sr., an assistant professor of communication at the University of Houston-Victoria, presented his paper, "Text and Totem: The (Re)production of Christian Community through the Bible as Symbolic Object," on Sept. 27 at The Image and The Word Conference hosted by Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Mich.
