Wrecked

VICTORIA - An orange truck hit a utility pole near the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and John Stockbauer Drive at 8:23 p.m. Monday. The driver, Raymond Cano, born in 1979, of Victoria, was driving north on John Stockbauer Drive. He turned left on Mockingbird, accelerated and lost control, said Victoria Police Officer Chris Hill. No one was hurt, and no citations were issued. The power was out briefly, but it has since been restored and American Electric Power is on the scene, Hill said.

VICTORIA - The driver of a 2005 Jeep Liberty was taken to Citizens Medical Center on Sunday after he wrecked in the 1900 block of Sam Houston Drive. The Jeep left the roadway and struck fixtures. The driver was given a citation for duty on striking a structure, fixture or highway landscaping valued at less than $200.

JACKSON COUNTY - No one was hurt at 5:25 a.m. Monday when a 2014 Ford Focus hit a deer while traveling south on Farm-to-Market Road 1593, 3.4 miles south of County Road 426, said Trooper Gerald Bryant of the Department of Public Safety.

Fire

VICTORIA - No one was hurt after Dacosta Volunteer Fire and Victoria Fire departments responded to a fire in a storage shed converted into an apartment in the 500 block of Davis Lane about 2 p.m. Monday. The fire started after a window A/C unit, one of the many devices plugged into one extension cord, malfunctioned. A bed and some chairs were damaged, said Victoria County Fire Marshal Ron Pray.

Arrested

VICTORIA - Johnny Cory Eakins, 49, of Victoria, by deputies Friday on a Victoria County warrant charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and on a DeWitt County warrant charging him with sex offender's duty to register life/annually.

VICTORIA - Amanda Marie Ezzell, 26, of Port Lavaca, by deputies Friday on a DeWitt County warrant charging her with theft of property between $1,500 and $20,000 and two Victoria County warrants charging her with bail jumping and failure to appear and failure to identify a fugitive, intent to give false information.

VICTORIA - James Rodney Holt, 48, of Victoria, by deputies Friday on two Victoria County warrants charging him with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and deadly conduct discharge of a firearm and on a DeWitt County warrant charging him with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

VICTORIA - Joseph Derek Stacy, 34, of Mertzon, by deputies Friday on a warrant charging him with theft of property between $500 and $1,500.

VICTORIA - A 28-year-old Victoria man by officers Saturday on suspicion of theft of property between $50 and $500.

VICTORIA - A 36-year-old Victoria woman by officers Saturday on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram in a drug-free zone and a class C misdemeanor.

VICTORIA - A 17-year-old Cuero man by deputies Saturday on suspicion of assault causing bodily injury to a family member.

VICTORIA - Valerio Eliseo Valderrama, 24, of Victoria, by officers Saturday on a parole violation.
