VICTORIA - Firefighters responded to the smell of smoke in the 100 block of Tampico Court just before 5 p.m. Sunday. There was no fire upon arrival, and firefighters determined there was a faulty blower motor in an air conditioning unit, according to Victoria Fire Department Battalion Chief Roger Hempel. No one was injured.

Wrecked

An 18-wheeler lost control at 11:06 p.m. Saturday on U.S. Highway 59, approximately 10 miles north of Refugio. No injuries were reported, an official with the Corpus Christi office of the Department of Public Safety said.

A man driving a Jeep Cherokee about a half-mile from Goliad on U.S. 59 South flipped the vehicle in the median after losing control of the car, according to Roger Hempel, Victoria Fire Department battalion chief. He suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
