A Victoria woman was taken to Citizens Medical Center Thursday afternoon for precautionary measures after the blue Ford Focus she was driving north on U.S. 59 North collided with a red Ford Focus that failed to yield at the Farm-to-Market Road 1686 intersection with the highway.

A 62-year-old Edna woman was taken to a hospital Thursday afternoon after her vehicle collided with another vehicle on U.S. Highway 59 North at Farm-to-Market Road 1686.

Dorothy Barnes was traveling on the business route of the highway when a red Ford Focus failed to yield the right of way in an attempt to cross the highway on Farm-to-Market Road 1686, and the two vehicles crashed, said Trooper Vern Sterry of the Department of Public Safety.

Barnes did not report any injuries but was sent to Citizens Medical Center as a precautionary measure, Sterry said.

Barnes was being evaluated Thursday evening in the emergency room, and a condition wasn't available, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
