Traffic Tip: Headlamps required to be certain height

All vehicles, no matter how high, need to have headlights from 24 to 54 inches from the ground.

I had a recent request to do a traffic safety tip on "jacked-up four-wheel drives."

The reader was concerned about the headlights being too high.

The Texas Transportation Code, under section 547.321, addresses this issue.

Two headlamps are required on all vehicles, with at least one on each side of the vehicle.

The Victoria Police Department Traffic Safety Unit invites citizens to inform us of any traffic issues that you observe. The easiest way to do this is go to our website, victoriapd.com, then go to the VPD Customer Service Request tab in the center of the page and follow the directions.

If you have a traffic law question, contact Senior Police Officer David Brogger, Victoria Police Department Traffic Safety Unit, at 361-485-3700.
