House Fire in Goliad County
A home was burned to the ground in the 3400 block of Farm-to-Market Road 2442 in Goliad County.
A home burned to the ground late Sunday morning in the 3400 block of Farm-to-Market Road 2442 in Goliad County.
No one was injured, but the home was a complete loss, said Goliad County Fire Chief Alonzo Morales.
The home was lived in part time, said Chris Wintermyer, a caretaker for the cattle ranch. Wintermyer's parents, who live in Houston, planned to retire in the home, he said.
The call came in at 10:50 a.m., and the first unit arrived on scene at 11:12 a.m., Morales said. The house was about 20 miles outside of Goliad city limits.
The home was insured, Wintermyer said, but all of the furnishings were destroyed in the fire.
Fannin, Goliad, Kenedy and Ander-Weser volunteer fire departments responded.
Crews worked for hours to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
