The third annual El Campo Steps Out event is scheduled for Saturday at the El Campo High School football field.

This year's events include a 5K run in addition to the 3K walk. Both races will be at the same time, so participants will have to choose to either run or walk.

Participants are encouraged to donate. However, there is no registration fee.

Awards will be presented for the first man, woman and child to finish each race, the largest team, most money donated by an individual and most donated by a team.

A health fair will begin at 9 a.m. This is a family event for people of all ages. Adult activities include free health screenings, such as vein screens by Dr. Sean Hamilton from Victoria Vein and Surgery, a glucose test, blood pressure checks, dioxide levels and pulse, information booths and bingo.

Sugar-free treats will also be available.

A raffle will be held with prizes from Wharton County.

A kids' zone will have goody bags, face painting, sugar-free snow cones, popcorn and a moonwalk.

For more information, visit El Campo Steps Out on Facebook.
