Ganado Telephone Company is working with AT&T to restore phone service between Edna and Victoria.
A fiber optic cable was damaged at 3 p.m. Monday, downing land and cell phone lines for hundreds of residents in Jackson County, said Jackson County Sheriff Andy Louderback.
Calls cannot be made or received until phone lines are restored.
Ganado Telephone Company posted a note on its Facebook page stating they and AT&T are aware of the issue and they're working to restore lines as quickly as possible.
Cellphone lines may be restored more quickly than land lines.
There is no need to contact either company to report phone line failure, according to the notice.
Users of YKC Internet Services should not be impacted by the phone outage, the notice stated.
