Sept. 10, 2013 at 4:10 a.m.

Did you know?

Victoria's third annual Bootfest brings a couple of changes to the table, said LaRue Roth, director of the Victoria Convention and Visitors Bureau.

This year's event includes a Saturday car show, which spans 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at DeLeon Plaza, she said.

A second park and ride shuttle location also joins the mix.

Festival-goers can access the free service at either the Dr. Pattie Dodson Public Health Center parking lot, 2805 N. Navarro St., or Riverside Park's Riverside Stadium, 405 Memorial Drive.

Shuttle service runs from 4:30 p.m. to midnight Oct. 4 and from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Oct. 5.

As Victoria's third annual Bootfest approaches, organizers are working to get word out about upcoming road closures.

Closures begin Oct. 3, according to a city news release, with the first - Forrest Street at Main and Bridge streets - coming at 6 a.m., according to a city of Victoria news release.

Beginning 10 p.m. that same day, barricades will block:

Main Street from Goodwin Avenue to Santa Rosa Street (Parking garage entrance will remain open, and drivers can turn east onto Goodwin Avenue)

Bridge Street from Goodwin Avenue to Santa Rosa Street

Glass Street from Goodwin Avenue to Constitution Street

Goodwin Avenue from Glass to Liberty streets

Forrest Street from Moody to Liberty streets

Constitution Street from Moody to Liberty streets

Roads will remain closed Oct. 4 and 5.

Downtown employees should park outside the barricaded areas before and during Bootfest, while employees at One O'Connor Plaza and First Victoria Bank can park, as usual, in the parking garages.

Limited accessibility will be available through side streets surrounding the blocked areas.

Businesses expecting deliveries Oct. 4 should call the city's communications office at 361-485-3110 no later than Oct. 2 to ensure accommodations can be made.

Due to limited parking, two park and ride locations will offer free shuttle service from 4:30 p.m.to midnight Oct. 4 and from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Oct. 5.

Locations include the Dr. Pattie Dodson Public Health Center parking lot, 2805 N. Navarro St., and Riverside Park's Riverside Stadium, 405 Memorial Drive.
