Hit the Downtown scene at the Victoria Mall on Saturday for some smooth tunes and art.
The fragrance counter at the Victoria Mall Dillard's will do more than just release Calvin Klein's newest fragrance, Downtown, said Angela Salazar, cosmetic and fragrance manager.
"We wanted to do something else to release this scent," she said. "We wanted it to feel like downtown with the music and art."
Releasing a fragrance with the name Downtown, Salazar, 33, wanted to bring music to the store. Keeping in tune with downtown bar Steve-a-reno's and the blues theme, she commissioned help from area musicians Shawn Guzman and The Texas Soul. The two will perform acoustic songs in front of the store entrance to put shoppers in the mood, she said.
The event will also include area artist Albert Ray Leos who will be painting on the perfume bottles for shoppers.
"Other larger stores have done the bottle painting, but this will be our first time," said Salazar. "He'll be painting the bottles right there at the counter."
Depending on what the shopper is interested in, she said Leos can paint dragons, roses, sugar skulls and butterflies. He will also showcase his airbrush work at Bootfest in October.
There is no pressure to buy anything, Salazar said, but with any purchase of a large fragrance by Calvin Klein, Leos will personalize it with a painting.
