America needs to stay out of Syria

Sept. 12, 2013 at 4:12 a.m.

Editor, the Advocate:

I am writing in concern for the latest distraction the president is using to keep your mind off of things concerning his administration's actions as well as inactions.

The latest distraction is Syria, hoping you will forget Benghazi and Fast and Furious, to name a couple. The truth is that we do not know absolutely for sure whether the Assad regime or al-Qaida were the ones who set off those chemical weapons.

Let's review a few facts. First: We are the ones who gave Saddam Hussein the chemical weapons; we only got upset at him using them when he quit using them on the Iranians and started using them on the Kurds in his own country. Second: The reason Bush used to go into Iraq was for weapons of mass destruction such as chemical weapons, which, when attacked by the U.S., went to Syria. The normal news outlets will not tell you the truth because they have been bought off.

To find out who would be the ones to vote for more war, which we don't need, follow the contribution trail to see which defense contractors have given significant donations to which congressmen. We have been lied to and had half truths and obfuscation of what our government has been doing to our Constitution and our Bill of Rights for so long that most don't realize what has happened to them until they find themselves denied those rights. Things like Sept. 11, 2001, have allowed the government to pass laws like the National Defense Authorization Act that strip you of your rights. All the government has to do is consider you an enemy combatant or possible terrorist, and you can be locked up indefinitely without a lawyer, phone call or anything.

The only ones who have ever gained from war are the banking cartels. I suggest you call your representatives and the White House and tell them to stay the hell out of Syria.
