Five people were injured in an incident Friday morning at Formosa Plastics in Point Comfort.

The extent of injuries is unknown, and how the incident happen is also unknown. The unit is used to make polypropylene-based plastic pellets.

"We're not taking any chances," he said. "We always err on the side of caution."

This is the second incident this year for the plant. On May 2, 14 workers were injured in a flash fire incident in No. 1 production unit.
