Late score keeps Brahmas undefeated

HALLETTSVILLE - Dalton Herrington returned an interception 71 yards for a touchdown with no time remaining to stave off a last-ditch Yoakum drive as Hallettsville stayed undefeated with a 39-28 win over the Bulldogs Friday night.
Hallettsville (3-0) took a 33-28 lead with 46 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter on halfback Kaden Hardt's 1-yard run.
After the kickoff, Yoakum reached its own 49 before Herrington's interception on fourth down not only stopped the drive but the senior safety turned it into a touchdown.
Nate Kowalik had 274 yards of total offense for the Brahmas, who extended their regular season winning streak to 15. Kowalik scored one touchdown and threw a 67-yard touchdown pass to Jimario Grounds. He threw for 192 yards on 15 of 25 passing and rushed for 82 yards.
Hardt also had a 74-yard touchdown run and was the game's leading rusher with 157 yards on 11 carries.
Tre'vontae Hights had 347 yards of total offense for the Bulldogs with 141 yards rushing and 178 passing. Hights scored on runs of 15, 33 and 11 yards and threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Miguel Resendiz.
Grounds caught 4 passes for 102 yards, Trenton McGee had 4 catches for 51 yards to lead Brahma receivers.
