Four of the five Formosa operators who were burned in a fire Friday remain in Memorial Hermann Health System's burn unit in Houston.
Employees were conducting scheduled maintenance on the tower in the high-density polyethylene-II unit, which produces a polypropylene-based plastic pellet, prior to the fire.
Bernard Mendoza, 37, of Inez, was listed in guarded condition Saturday, said Lisa Lagrone, operations administrator for Memorial Hermann Health System.
Allen Bowman, 50, of Bay City, and Jeffrey Downs, 42, of Port Lavaca, were in good condition, she said.
Lagrone could not release the name of the fourth patient but said he was also in good condition.
The fifth patient was released from Citizens Medical Center on Friday, said Bill Harvey, communications manager for Formosa.
The investigation into what caused the fire will not start until next week, Harvey said.
