Annual Czech Heritage Festival Sunday

Daniela Sipkova Mahoney, of Portland, Ore., will demonstrate the art of egg painting at the 28th annual Victoria County Czech Heritage Festival Sunday.

The 28th annual Victoria County Czech Heritage Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Victoria Community Center.

Admission is $7. A pork loin lunch will be available for $8.

The event includes live music, the Czech Heritage Museum exhibits, arts and crafts, face painting, Czech demonstrations and a homemade beer and wine show.

The music will include DJ Randy Janak, the Shiner Hobo Band, Fritz Hodde and the Fabulous Six and the Red Ravens.

Demonstrations will include a presentation by Jennifer Koll, Miss Texas Czech-Slovak Queen.

The Art of Egg Decorating will be presented by Daniela Sipkova Mahoney of Portland, Ore. Mahoney is a native of Prague, Czech Republic.

Another demonstration will be PolkaWorks.

Lori Najvar and Dawn Orsak of the nonprofit undertaking will talk about "Texas Czechs: Rooted in Tradition," a multimedia exhibit they are designing and building about Texas Czechs and their cultural traditions.

They will also offer some tips for documenting a family's traditions. As part of the exhibit research, they will record short interviews at the festival to promote the Texas Czech culture.
