Trinity Lutheran WELCA elects officers

The women of WELCA met at 6:30 p.m Sept. 10 for its quarterly meeting.

The special guest for the meeting was Michele Linke, synodical representative for the Bluebonnet conference. She presented a program on brooches and showed various shapes and types and compared them to Bible verses. After the program, refreshments were served.

There was a meeting afterward. New officers for the 2014-16 terms were elected as follows: Jo Ann Yeary and Barbara Stubbs, co-presidents; Betty Dearman, vice president; Dawn Foerster, secretary; Colleen Aitchison, treasurer. Executive committee members: Barbara Zimmerman, mission action; Lois Eichhorn, mission community; and Delores Steen, mission growth.

It was reported that 61 quilts are completed for Lutheran World Relief for next spring, and 135 school kits are ready to be shipped.

Recently, the ladies made casseroles and cookies for United Campus Ministry. Also, 54 Plates of Love were delivered in the last three months.

On Oct. 10, the ladies will entertain the residents of Twin Pines with a songfest and refreshments for October birthdays.

Six women will be attending the Synodical convention Oct. 12-14 in Round Rock. The theme is "Celebrating God's Glory Throughout the Generation." Saturday will be breast cancer awareness day, and all will be in pink.

The meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer.
