Calhoun, Gonzales roll to big victories

Calhoun 47,

Austin Reagan 0

MANOR - Calhoun (4-0) continued its 27-game regular-season winning streak intact defeating Austin Reagan 47-0.

Running back Cory Williams had three rushing touchdowns, including one for 26 yards in the second quarter. Quarterback Hunter Boerm had five rushes for 79 yards and a touchdown for the Sandcrabs.

The Sandcrabs were not done in the second half with the Raiders (0-4), as they scored twice in the third quarter.

Brandon Smithwick rushed for 54 yards for a touchdown 24 seconds into the third quarter. Adrian Mendoza recovered a fumble for a touchdown.

In the fourth quarter, J.C. Garcia rushed 14 yards for a touchdown.

Ganado 10,

Tidehaven 7

EL MATON - Thomas Parks kicked a 25-yard field goal with 2 minutes, 15 seconds left in the fourth quater to lift Ganado over Tidehaven.

Clay Vesely started the scoring with a 76-yard run for Ganado (3-1) in the first quarter.

Tidehaven (1-3) answered with an Eric Villarreal 5-yard run in the third quarter.

Vesely had 144 yards rushing to go with his touchdown. Kameron Smith had five catches for 79 yards, and Ray Salazar was 8-for-16 for 123 yards passing.

Ganado, a Class 1A school, has beat Class 2A Tidehaven four straight times.

Gonzales 55,

Lanier 6

AUSTIN - Gonzales scored 34 first-quarter points en route to a non-district blowout win over Lanier.

For the Apaches (2-1), Alyas Ramirez and Darrance James powered the big first-quarter outburst.

Ramirez had touchdown runs of 11 and 26 yards and threw for two TDs. James caught TD passes of 26 and 13 yards and added a 2-yard run.

Aaron Hunt and D.J. Gonzales also added touchdown runs (4 and 6 yards, respectively). Ramirez capped off the scoring with an 80-yard TD kickoff return.

Class 3A Gonzales beat Class 4A Lanier (0-4) for the fourth-straight time.
