Oceans For Emotions: Practice learning patience

Joseph proudly displays his first fish.

And God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea."

- Genesis 1:26

Here is a picture of Joseph, my great-grandson, posing with his first fish catch. Can you find a better picture of excitement, joy and pride?

He just turned 4 years old the other day, and he is the son of my granddaughter, Marilyn and my fishing partner.

She sent me this picture and called and explained a problem to me. Now, every time his cork even jiggles, he pulls it up out of the water, thus missing his fish.

His mom is trying to teach a 4-year-old patience while he is fishing. I would like to tell Mama Marilyn to just give up on teaching him patience about the cork and let him try it his way. After all, that is how we have all learned the lessons called life.

Dear Lord, thank You for sitting with us beside our seas of life. I know that You, my dear Lord, can smile because You will love us until we get life right or You will smile upon us even when we don't get life quite right.
