Trends: Steers and heifers, steady.

Steers: (200-300) $127-$190; (300-400) $134-$195; (400-500) $124-$170; (500-600) $119-$151; (600-700) $112-$146; and (700-800) $109-$142.

Heifers: (200-300) $106-$171; (300-400) $122-$173; (400-500) $117-$151; (500-600) $114-$145; (600-700) $107-$135; and (700-800) $100-$135.

Receipts: 1,354

Had 166 cows and 11 bulls. The packer market was steady after a couple of weeks of declines. Demand is still weak, and numbers are still high but slowing down a bit.

The calf market was solid across the board as for the second week in a row prices were higher with under 500 pound steers of number one quality leading the way with up to $5 higher prices.

Packer bulls: Heavy weights, $88-$92; lower grades, $70-$80.

Packer cows: breakers, $65-$75; boning cows, $65-$82; canners and cutters, $80-$88; light and weak, $48-$60.

Palpated dry cows (20 bred cows): $89-$113; pairs (one): $1,000.

Compared to our last sale: Calves and yearlings sold steady. Packer cows sold steady.

Compared to last week: The market was higher this week. Better quality lightweights 550 pounds and down were $2 to $4 higher. Heavier weights sold $1 to $3 higher. Plainer quality classes were a little better at steady to $2 higher.

Packer cows and bulls sold $3 lower on about 140 head total.

Packer cows: Higher dressing utility and cutter cows, $70-$85; lower dressing utility and cutter cows, $58-$70; light weight canner cows, $48-$58.

Packer bulls: Heavyweight bulls, $93-$96; utility and cutter bulls, $87-$93; lightweight canner bulls, $78-$87.
