David and Berenda Donald of Victoria celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary by taking a trip with longtime local friends on July 3, 2013 by traveling on a 12-day cruise of the British Isles and France on the Caribbean Princess Cruise Liner. Cities along the way included London, Guernsey, and Liverpool in England; Cork, Dublin, and Belfast in Ireland; Glasgow, Inverness, Edinburgh, St. Andrews in Scotland; Paris and the Normandy Region in France; while in London, visited Buckingham Palace and rode the famous London Eye.
David Donald and Berenda Hill were married on July 3, 1971 at St. Peter's Baptist Church in Victoria, Texas.
Children of the anniversary couple are Johnathan Donald, Doctorate of Jurisprudence professional degree, a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and Nova Southeastern Law Center in Florida; selected to serve a Law School Student Internship with Federal Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas; selected as Resident Assistant by his dorm while a student at The University of Texas; member of National Honor Society, Debate Team, and selected American Legion Boys States Representative to The University of Texas at Austin while attending Victoria High School ; Gretchen, his wife, a University of Texas at Dallas cum laude graduate; Jarred Donald, Doctorate of Dental Surgery professional degree; a graduate of Texas A&M University at College Station and Baylor College of Dentistry; currently in Private Practice as a Dentist; awarded Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry; selected by Consumers' Research Council of America as one of America's Top Dentist; former Commissioned Officer Dentist holding the rank of a U.S. Navy Officer with the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps; selected as Resident Assistant by his dorm while a student at Texas A&M University; member of National Honor Society, Vice-President of his high school senior class, starting linebacker on the varsity football team, and elected by the student body as Homecoming King while attending Victoria High School. Both children of the anniversary couple attended Victoria ISD public schools.
Grandchildren of the anniversary couple are Anais, Jordan, Jarred, Madison, and Braxton.
David grew up in a rural community in South Louisiana; graduated valedictorian of his high school class; served a successful mechanical engineering student co-op assignment with the Federal Government near Huntsville, Alabama at Redstone Arsenal; served a successful mechanical engineering student internship with John Deere Company at the Corporate Headquarters in Moline, Illinois; graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree cum laude in Mechanical Engineering from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; served our country honorably in a leadership role while in the United States Military as a First Lieutenant Infantry Commissioned Officer; completed an Infantry Officer Leadership Course through the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia; retired Dupont Victoria; retired certified math teacher having a Master of Business Administration degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio; elected a member of Delta Mu Delta national business honors society; member of Victoria Holy Family Knights of Columbus Council; Holy Family Eucharistic Minister; Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas.
Berenda grew up in Victoria and is employed by Victoria ISD; was a long time consultant for an educational software company; former member of Sweet Adelines International women singing group; former member of the Board of Directors for the Women's Crisis Center Victoria; former Howell Middle School PTO secretary; former president of Kappa Omicron Victoria Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority and was chosen chapter sweetheart during the Beta Sigma Phi Sweetheart Ball on February 16, 1985; former member of the Victoria Symphony Guild and co-chaired "Encore 85 - American in Paris" fashion show to benefit the Victoria Symphony; enjoys reading, playing cards, and traveling including trips to Alaska, Canada, and the US Virgin Island; when not traveling, Berenda enjoys visual arts and a wide range of music genres from Jazz to Classical; currently sings in the Holy Family Adult Choir; member of Holy Family Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Both anniversary couple husband and wife have been members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria for 32 years.
