Isabel McCan, a 2010 St. Joseph High School graduate, was named a 2014 Runyon Scholar by the Denver Press Club. Six journalism students from major Colorado universities are chosen each year, based on their reporting ability, to represent their respective schools as Runyon Scholars. McCan and other students were recognized at the 20th Annual Damon Runyon Award Banquet held to honor the recipient of a Damon Runyon Award. This year's recipient was Katie Couric. McCan received a one-year membership to the Denver Press Club as well as a $1,000 scholarship. McCan is a fourth-year journalism major at the University of Denver and a November-graduate candidate.
