Church in a funeral home?

It makes sense for the Rev. Larry Green, senior chaplain with Hospice of South Texas.

Green is launching a new church, God's Church of Grace, in a Port Lavaca funeral home Sunday.

Green said his new church will occupy Grace Funeral Home, 1604 W. Austin St., which was formerly Alamo Heights Baptist Church.

The nondenominational services are open to the public, young and old, and will occupy the entire funeral home facility Sundays.

A meet and greet with Green is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Hamburgers, hot dogs and sodas will be served.

Sunday services begin at 9 a.m., and Thursday Bible Study begins at 7 p.m.

Green said whether there's five or 50 people, church will be held.
