Clerk's office announces longer hours for April

The Jackson County District Clerk's office will stay open until 7 p.m. every Thursday in April.
"We are extending our hours in honor of County Government Month that is being celebrated statewide," said Sharon Mathis, Jackson County district clerk. Any business may be attended to during these extra hours but especially the processing of passport applications.
The Jackson County district clerk's office offers photo-taking for passports for $10, and the processing fee for passports is $25. Passports for adults are $110, and for children under age 16, the fee is $80. Both parents must appear with a child younger than 16. For those applicants not flying, a passport card may be obtained for $30. Passport fees must be paid by check or money order while other fees may be paid by cash, check, debit or credit card.
The applications may be obtained from the travel.gov website as well as valuable information on the passport requirements for adults and children. In addition to the application, a certified birth certificate is required as well as a photo ID such as a valid driver's license.
