Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution made a recent appearance at Club Westerner. Club Westerner has one of the finest wooden dancing floors, and if you have a great dancing partner, it's like skating on ice.
The best way to describe Ruben Ramos is as a classy gentleman who puts it all out there for you. He and his band are pure entertainment: a little bit of jazz, rhythm and blues, oldies but goodies and a whole lot of Tejano. They have the big band sound and play nonstop with all of their hearts.
He also features our very own home-grown Buddy de los Santos with beautiful boleros and heart-wrenching Mariachi songs.
Ruben and his band have been bringing their fans a vast assortment of the best dancing and falling in love music since the '60s. Ruben is a Grammy and Tejano music award winner, and believe me - amazing.
I asked Ruben, what do you love most about performing?
The people, he said, seeing them happy, enjoying the music, dancing and having fun is energizing. "Me dan animo."
If you missed Friday's performance, you really missed a great show and a chance to dance your heart out. I will keep you posted on his next gig in Victoria. He is one of the headliners for the DeLeon Club Christmas Dance on Dec. 13.
About the columnist: Victoria resident Mona Gonzales and her husband, Ralph, love and support all music, but Tejano keeps them young and on the dance floor with friends.
