Retired Marine corpsman Nick Lowry, of Victoria, takes a moment of silence during a prayer vigil at Northside Baptist Church in Victoria to honor victims of a shooting that took place at Fort Hood military base April 2. About 50 people were in attendance Sunday evening for the vigil put on by the Christian Warriors Retreat organization. "It's a tough blow," said Lowry, who served two tours of duty in Iraq between 2000 and 2007 and now works to help veterans returning home. "The most important thing for a veteran returning home is a peer-to-peer system - someone they can talk to," Lowry said.
