Editor, the Advocate:
We need to restore Goliad's good reputation. In traveling around the United States and Europe, it's been amazing to me how many people know of Goliad. I remember sitting near a couple one evening at a restaurant in Switzerland, and our talk eventually came around to where we were from. I said Texas, and the woman mentioned that they had friends in Texas. She then asked if I knew anyone from Goliad. What a small world.
Goliad has a special place in Texas history, and it has been troubling to see all the negative publicity about Goliad in recent months. The operations of the city and Goliad itself have unfortunately become a joke in many conversations. None of this is good for the residents and taxpayers of Goliad. It's clearly time for some new faces on City Council and in the mayor's chair.
As a voter and taxpayer in Goliad, I plan to vote in the Goliad City Council elections in early May. I hope you'll join me in voting in these important city elections and help restore Goliad's good reputation.
