Goliad students advance to state finals at Young Filmmakers Festival

Two Goliad High School groups have produced films that have advanced to state finals in the UIL Young Filmmakers Festival.

Jason Harvey, Matthew Baca, Kirkland Eggemeyer, Union Brooks and Dempsey Duprie will be showing their film, "Hall Monitors." Their film shows a camera crew following a tight-knit group of hall monitors, documenting their daily activity.

These five seniors are in the new audio/video production class offered at Goliad High School and taught by Christy Zillig.

Two independent seniors, John von Dohlen and Ryder Billo, will be showing their film, "Monkey's Paw." Their film is based on the tale written by W.W. Jacobs.

Both groups will have their films shown at the Paramount Theatre in Austin on Wednesday. These two films are in the narrative category for 1, 2 and 3A schools along with five other films competing for first through third place.
