Prom is a special time for high school students, especially girls. It is one of the few formal events of the year, and students get the opportunity to go all-out when it comes to outfits, hair, makeup, flowers and more.
This year, the selection process for the Victoria Advocate's Prom Princess was tough. In February, three finalists were voted on: Austin Supak, a Victoria West High School senior; Morgan DeLaGarza, a St. Joseph High School senior; and Ashley Green, another senior at West High School. In the end, readers selected Ashley as the Prom Princess, and members of the Victoria community are already in the process of making her dream prom come to life.
On Monday, voting started for the first step in Ashley's way to prom. She was able to choose three dresses from the Victoria shop All About the Dress. Now, members of the community have until noon Friday to help choose which of the three dresses Ashley will wear for the big night. Readers can vote daily on the Victoria Advocate's website. After the dress is decided, Ashley will move on to try out three different makeup and hair styles, which will also be chosen by community votes.
Prom Princess is an incredible effort that helps bring the community together by focusing on fulfilling the wish of one of the area's treasured young women. We applaud everyone who played a part in this effort, from the companies that partnered with the Advocate to all of the community members who take part in the voting process. Thank you for supporting these beautiful young women every year and helping to fulfill their dreams of the perfect prom night.
We look forward to seeing which dress Ashley will be wearing to prom. Each dress is a lovely choice. But we will give our readers a hint to help support this year's Prom Princess: Her favorite color is pink.
