Mid Coast Hurricane and Disaster Conference ready to discuss disasters

The Golden Crescent Healthcare Coalition will host the annual Mid Coast Hurricane and Disaster Conference on Thursday to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.
Victor Wells of the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force will be the guest speaker at the Victoria Community Center, 2905 E. North St., along with Gen. P.K. Carlton, who will discuss the Joplin, Mo., tornado recovery, and John Metz of the National Weather Service.
There will be information on hazards from natural and man-made disasters, information for first responders, health care professionals, critical infrastructure representatives, public sector employees, business leaders, energy representatives and industry representatives in the case of a local disaster.
Tickets are $15 per person and include breakfast and lunch. Doors open at 8 a.m., and a general wrap-up session ends at 4:30 p.m.
