An 86-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon when he was suspected of shooting at a man waiting at a park and ride Thursday night.

The names of both men have not been released because the incident is still under investigation, said Sgt. Bradley Hlavac, with the Victoria Police Department.

The shooting happened about 8:15 p.m. at the park and ride off U.S. Highway 87, near Big Vic's Truck Stop, Hlavac said.

The 30-year-old was looking for a ride when the 86-year-old approached him in an SUV. When the 30-year-old attempted to walk away, the man pulled out a rifle and shot, Hlavac said.

The 30-year-old man ran and hid in the grass until police arrived. The man was not injured.
