VC's Academy of Lifelong Learning to hold open house Thursday

Victoria College's Academy of Lifelong Learning will host its fall open house from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday in the Victoria College Student Center, Rooms A-D.

The academy is an educational membership organization for active, mature adults, ages 50 and above, offering classes and social activities for continued intellectual and personal growth.

Visitors will be able to meet members and instructors and can register for more than 30 classes during the open house. A one-time membership fee of $50 is charged. It covers all classes and activities for an entire year.

Refreshments will be served at the come-and-go event.

Topics offered include:•  History

•  Psychology

•  Introduction to new hobbies

•  Cinema club

•  Arts, crafts and games

•  Travel

Tours to local attractions

"The Academy of Lifelong Learning's philosophy can be summed up in a quote by Oliver Wendell Holmes: 'A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions,'" said Destiny Olson, Lifelong Learning Program Specialist.
