Writer's claim needs investigation

Editor, the Advocate:
The information in a letter that ran in the Advocate on Aug. 10 about the illegal aliens being killed by border patrol agents, in my opinion, should have been investigated.
Who is this border patrol agent who told the storyteller they murdered people crossing the border? Is this being investigated? I understand the writer may be trying to protect his source and that there is such a thing as journalistic integrity, but is that any excuse to let someone get away with not just a hate crime, not just murder, but mass murder? It should be a simple enough process to find out who this friend of the writer is once the storyteller is revealed to the authorities.
There is a lot of hate still in the nation. It has gotten better, but it is still there. Just because it was some time ago and everyone else may have forgotten the event does not mean that justice cannot be served.
