Sara Vela, owner of Vela Farms, won third place in the H-E-B Primo Picks Quest for Texas Best contest. She was awarded 10,000 by H-E-B during the final round of the contest Wednesday hosted at the Houston Food Bank. H-E-B's Quest For Texas Best has awarded its 2014 winner.

It's not a Victoria winner, but that's OK, because Victoria's Vela Farms won third place and a $10,000 prize.

Sara Vela's farm and ranch has been in her family for more than 100 years and was a finalist to have its sweet tea jelly sold at H-E-B stores in 2015. From Fig Preserves and Ginger Habanero Jelly to Texas Sweet Tea Jelly and Strawberry Balsamic Serrano Jam, Vela's selection is sweet, spicy and always full of the fresh produce from the farm.

The Quest for Texas Best competition drew entries from throughout the state. Winners were chosen based on taste, flavor, customer appeal, value, uniqueness, market potential and differentiation from current goods at H-E-B stores.
