GOP needs to come to its senses

Editor, the Advocate:
The transformation of the Republican Party into an anti-government party has hurt the country. The GOP ideological polarization comes at a time when critical problems cry out for resolution.
What is most lacking in Congress are members who understand the essential and difficult task of peacefully reconciling diverse interests through processes of negotiation and compromise.
Hopefully, the GOP will self-correct and run candidates who want to solve problems rather than shut down the government. If not, it is time to stop electing them until they come to their senses.
