VC Electronic Health Records course to begin registration

Registration for Victoria College's Electronic Health Records course will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Health Sciences Center, Room 228. The classes will meet from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays Sept. 4 through Oct. 16 in the same location.

Enrollees in this course must have an associate degree or higher and/or comparable work experience and should understand basic computer operation.

This course provides skills and knowledge in the health information field relating to electronic health records management. The roles of various health care support positions will be included, such as the medical office scribe, registration, admitting and receptionist staff and nursing unit computer support positions.

Course content will include the transition from paper to electronic records for office practices, clinical settings and acute/long-term care facilities. Lecture, hands-on computer exercises and review of industry literature will be the instructional methods utilized in the class.

This is a noncredit continuing education course that does not apply toward a credit degree, credit certification or academic transfer.
