Three arrested with 70 pounds of marijuana

Victoria County Sheriff's Office deputies recovered 70 pounds of marijuana in a Monday morning traffic stop off of U.S. Highway 59. The drugs were found in a hidden compartment in the vehicle. Three occupants were arrested on second degree felony charges of possession of Marijuana between 50 and 2,000 pounds.

Three people were arrested Monday morning after being found with 70 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop.

Deputies with the Victoria County Sheriff's Office stopped a green Chevrolet Tahoe about 8:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 59, where they recovered 19 bundles of marijuana in a hidden compartment of the vehicle.

All three passengers in the Tahoe - Omar Garcia, 43, of Falfurrias; Jamber Garcia, 22; and Virginia Martinez, 38, both of Premont - were arrested on second-degree felony charges of possession of marijuana between 50 and 2,000 pounds. The group awaits arraignment in the Victoria County Jail.
