The Nordheim FFA Stock Show brought in $84,700 with the sale of 40 animals Jan. 25.

"The students were able to grasp why they were doing this for the past four to six months," said Courtney Bauer, Nordheim ISD agriculture teacher and FFA sponsor. "Their hard work paid off."

This year's auction total was in line with last year's, which was $87,000.

Sixth-grader Quensey Torrez showed the grand champion 1,200-pound steer, which sold for $4,800.

Buyers included Finch Funeral Chapel, Citizens Bank, Townsend Oilfield Services, Alexander Auto Center, Pruski's, Apple Lumber, Tractor City, Dynasty, Nixon-Beeville Livestock, Nordheim FFA Fundraisers and Karnes County Livestock.

Tessa Green, a senior, showed the 81-pound grand champion goat that sold for $2,500.

Buyers included Talk Ranch, Muller Ag, KC Lease Service and RAMCO.

Senior Alyssa Leister earned $3,000 for her grand champion 150-pound lamb.

Buyers included Amanda Tam, Edgar and Gladys' Cafe, Dynasty Enterprises and Nordheim FFA Fundraisers.

Jason Guinn, fifth-grader, showed the grand champion 249-pound hog, which sold for $3,000.

Buyers included Nordheim FFA Fundraisers, Finch Funeral Chapel, Citizens Bank, Beef It Up and David Reynolds Agri-Industries.

The 1,195-pound reserve grand champion steer, showed by seventh-grader Savannah Castillo, earned $3,884.

Buyers included Nordheim FFA Fundraisers, Finch Funeral Chapel, Beef It Up and Nitro.

Jordan Green, third-grader, earned $2,100 for her 63-pound reserve grand champion goat.

Buyers included Amanda Tam, Finch Funeral Chapel, Nitro and David Reynolds Agri-Industries.

Alyssa Leister, senior, also showed the 135-pound reserve grand champion lamb, which earned $2,800.

Buyers included Tractor City, Dynasty Enterprises, Nixon-Beeville Livestock, Nordheim FFA Fundraisers, Finch Funeral Chapel and Citizens Bank.

Seventh-grader Trace Alvarez earned $3,000 for his 238-pound reserve grand champion hog.

Seifert Family Ranches purchased Alvarez's hog.
