Melanie Macek may have inherited her love for football from her father, but her passion for the Denver Broncos was an invention of her own.
"I started watching the Broncos when I was living in Southern California," Macek, 41, said. "I just really liked the way they played and their attitude and traditions."
Although the Victoria resident has never lived in Denver, Macek said if she could, she would move to the Mile High City in a heartbeat.
"I've wanted to live there since high school," Macek said. "The Broncos are a stand-up team. They don't play dirty; they play fair, and they're very appreciative of their fans."
Macek's husband, however, does not share her love for the Broncos, she said.
He's a Dallas Cowboys fan.
During a Broncos and Cowboys game, she and her husband could not watch the game together in the same room.
"We decided it would be a better idea to watch the game from different houses," Macek said. "It's all playful between us, but if it gets to be too much, he just turns the TV off."
Macek said she tries to keep away from trash-talking other teams during Broncos' games.
"I learned actually the more smack I talk, the more it bounces back on my team," Macek said. "I know how it is on both sides."
