Javelinas sweep Jaguars

KINGSVILLE - Texas A&M-Kingsville extended UHV's losing streak to five games by sweeping a doubleheader Saturday at Nolan Ryan Field.

The Javelinas got their season off to a successful start by winning 6-2 in the first game and 6-0 in the second game.

Flatonia graduate Dallas Ponder started the first game for A&M-Kingsville and went four innings.

Taylor Taska hit a two-run home run in the first inning and a solo shot in the fifth for the Javelinas.

Ryan Pearsall hit a two-run home run for the Jaguars (1-5) in the fourth inning.

St. Joseph graduate Denver Diefenbach started the second game for A&M-Kingsville and retired the side in four of five innings. He gave up two hits and had one strikeout.

UHV returns to Riverside Stadium on Sunday to play a doubleheader against Wayland Baptist at 1 p.m.
