Two men were arrested after being suspected by Victoria Police officers of making a 17-year-old Arkansas girl prostitute herself.
Corey Wayne Hamilton, 35, of Dallas, was arrested Friday on suspicion of compelling prostitution under age 18, a felony, at a hotel in the 3900 block of Houston Highway at 4:19 p.m.
Christopher Montrail Watkins, 27, of Dallas, was also arrested Friday at the same location on suspicion of promoting prostitution, a class A misdemeanor, according to a complaint filed at the Victoria County Sheriff's Office.
Watkins' mug shot and complaint were not available Monday night as he was no longer in the sheriff's custody.
Police received a tip from the FBI on Thursday that a girl from Mena, Ark., was in Victoria, living in hotels with Hamilton, her pimp.
A detective looked at websites advertising escorts and found a photo that looked like the girl. He found her and Hamilton at the hotel.
Hamilton, according to the complaint, told police he picked the girl up in Dallas. While in Victoria, she had sex with three clients.
It was also discovered that another woman, whose age was not available, was staying in a second room with Watkins, who she said was her pimp.
One of their vehicles also matched a description given by the FBI.
Watkins had more than $500 on him when he was arrested, while Hamilton had more than $2,600 in cash.
The girl was taken to Victoria Regional Juvenile Justice Center to be reunited with her family.
She had been missing since June 20, 2013.
Hamilton's bond is set at $500,000.
