January's 24-degree low, brought on by a polar vortex, wasn't the coldest Victoria has seen for that time of year.

From a monthly standpoint, rainfall was more than 50 percent below normal. Victoria received 1.14 inches of rain compared to a normal of 2.52 inches for the month.

While January brought freezing temperatures to town, to the disappointment of many, not one flake of snow fell.
