Kelly Arnecke, a native of Victoria, was recently promoted to assistant chief at Victoria County Juvenile Services and Goliad County Juvenile Probation Department. He is replacing Paul Zuniga, who retired after 20 years of service with Victoria County. Arnecke is a 1989 graduate of Stroman High School and a 1996 graduate of University of Houston-Victoria with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. He started his career for Victoria County Juvenile Services as a detention officer in 1995.

William R. McLeod, co-owner of Friendly Oaks Bed and Breakfast in Victoria, has been selected as a featured member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes McLeod's commitment to excellence in hospitality and lodging. In February 1994, McLeod and his business partner purchased a house in Victoria with the intention of starting a bed and breakfast, and Friendly Oaks Bed and Breakfast has been in operation for nearly 20 years now.
