Port of Victoria breaks ground on new barge terminal

Port of Victoria city and county officials along with Victoria Fleet partners and State Representative Geanie Morrison prepare to break ground on an area that will become the Port of Victoria South's new barge fleeting terminal.

Area officials broke ground Friday on the newest project at the Port of Victoria South.

Port of Victoria, city and county officials along with, Victoria Fleet and State Representative Geanie Morrison met to celebrate the start of a project that is expected to move 900,000 cubic yards of dirt where the new fleet terminal can accommodate 50 barges.

The fleet terminal was designed by Urban Engineering with construction by Affolter Contracting Co. Work is expected to be complete by July.
