Editor, the Advocate:
We are currently approaching a very important election for Victoria County judge.
We have some well-meaning individuals, including the new challenger for county judge, who are pushing a new direction and new leadership. What new direction are they planning? They mean well but are relying on questionable facts, popular cliches and rhetoric and are not recognizing the success and opportunities we have available. Even though they have never attended a single budget session, very few commissioner court meetings, no hospital meetings, no airport meetings or any economic development meetings, they have a new plan.
Victoria is booming, having a great economy with tremendous educational and training opportunities. Our kids have a great future right here in Victoria.
Our current situation is not an accident. It is the result of careful planning, strong and conservative financial management, community involvement and the courage to address and fund ever-increasing needs and requirements (unfunded mandates).
All this requires an experienced, strong leader. I urge you to vote for my friend, Judge Don Pozzi, for Victoria County judge. At this crucial point in our county, we need proven, common-sense, conservative fiscal leadership, not politics.
