Editor, the Advocate:
Although I have retired from law practice and moved away, I still keep up with the "doings" in my former home of some 38 years. Of particular interest is the current race for Victoria County Court-at-Law No. 1, which involves my friend, Travis Ernst.
Rather than give the usual praise for a candidate, I want to convey a rather interesting fact that has occurred over the past year since Travis was appointed to the judge position: Every one of my former associates, colleagues and friends has mentioned how much they have appreciated the way Travis took over and has zealously operated this court after the retirement of the estimable Laura Weiser.
I can recall no other situation in which both prosecutors, defense attorneys, administrative personnel, law enforcement and, most importantly, the citizens who use the court system have been so well-satisfied with the fairness, impartiality, efficiency and good sense that Travis has brought to the job. In my experience, that kind of support is extraordinary.
Let's keep Travis Ernst working for the public for the next court term; he's shown he has what it takes.
