Oceans For Emotions: When I have run my race and finished my course
"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize. So run, that yea may obtain"
- 1 Cor. 10:24
I have always considered myself a dedicated athlete, and I have always wanted to run any race or compete on any sport team.
The Winter Olympics are on at this time in Sochi, Russia. The athletes have their chances to compete for the gold medal.
I guess I just missed making the teams because the airport officials did not think that my hearing devices, my oxygen concentrator, my false teeth holder or my walker were part of my athletic gear, so I did not make it to the Olympic trials.
I decided to to take another look at the race that is set before me and realized that God is leading me back to the beach, where I know that I can compete and be complete.
I decided to get my athletic gear and load up my car. I am wearing my tie-dyed USA shirt my fish-stained Nike shoes and my blue fishing hat with a trout racing through it. I have loaded up my very best white fishing rod with the long blue handle and my red Ambassadeur 5000 reel.
I am set for my race. I really think that I can hear my God say, "On your mark, get set, go fish."
Dear Lord, you have set before each of us our own race to run and to win. When we have run our final race, it will be in peace and pleasure to walk through those golden streets.
