Mobile home caught fire in Placedo

VICTORIA COUNTY - The Victoria Fire Department is still at the scene of a mobile home fire in the 100 block of Serene Drive that may have left at least one person dead.

The call came in at about 12:11 p.m., said Ron Pray, Victoria fire marshal. The mobile home, a small garage, carport and two vehicles, were a total loss he added.

Firefighters said they saw a body in the home, but Pray is waiting to enter the structure to confirm.

Roger Hempel, Victoria fire battalion chief, said the age of the structure and windy conditions may have increased the fire's intensity.

Placedo, DaCosta and Bloomington volunteer fire departments also responded to the fire.
