If you haven't looked into hearing the sounds of the U.S. Air Force Band of the West Spectrum Winds - you're missing out.

Master Sgt. Cynthia Bailey is in charge of the Spectrum Winds, which is performing at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday.

The six-member group performs anything from Mozart and Beethoven to jazz, marches, patriotic favorites and even pop songs.

"The quality of music is excellent," Bailey said. "Come; you'll like it."

I've not heard Spectrum Winds perform, but I have seen other nationwide performances by the Band of the West on YouTube, and they're great.

Bailey has played the flute in the band for 18 years, and this is not her first time in Victoria. The group travels anywhere in Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia and Florida, she said.

The audience Bailey said she usually sees in the crowd is mixed. You have your older generations and your younger adults with their children.

The music has a little something for everyone, she said. Also, the members of the band make an effort to chat with the audiences between songs.

While the receptions at the events are good, the most common question she is asked is why more people don't attend the event, Bailey said.

"We try to play a wide range of music," she said.

But Bailey promises if you hear the group, you'll find something to love about its performance.

"We play great music," she said excitedly. "You're gonna like it."
